In honor of Earth Day and in support of the Ozark Center of Hope, Arvest in Mountain Home is teaming up with Shred-It to hold a Shred-A-Thon on Saturday, April 21.  Bring any unwanted paper and sensitive documents to discard in a secure and environmentally-friendly way.  See the official release below about this upcoming event.

YELLVILLE, Ark. – Arvest Bank will be holding its 3rd annual Shred-A-Thon event on Saturday, April 21 at the Mountain Home East branch in honor of Earth Day. The bank will be accepting monetary donations for the Ozark Center of Hope. In lieu of paying for shredding services, residents are asked to make donations.

The Shred-A-Thon, sponsored by Arvest and Shred-it, provides an environmentally friendly way to discard unwanted paper and sensitive documents in a secure manner.  In the past two years the event has shredded and recycled over 9,000 pounds of paper and raised over $1,600 for the Mountain Home community.

The Ozark Center of Hope located at 307 West North Street in Mountain Home, is a coalition of 29 churches and 59 resources in the area whose purpose is to help those in need. The organization works with individuals and families directly, as well as aids them by referring them to other agencies and churches for additional help. Past projects of the Ozark Center of Hope have included providing monetary assistance for food, rent and utilities, and providing an inventory of diapers, baby items and personal hygiene items for families.  This year, they have a specific need for laundry detergent, bar soap and size four and five diapers.

“We’re so thrilled to be combining a worthwhile environmental cause with helping our neighbors in North Central Arkansas. Each year, hundreds of area residents bring unwanted documents to our Shred-A-Thon in order to recycle them. We thought it was a natural fit to ask them to also help out the local community as they are helping the environment,” Tiffany Watkins, spokesperson for Arvest said.

The Shred-A-Thon event is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and KOMT will be broadcasting live from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. with their Cash Cage on hand. Donations to Ozark Center of Hope will be taken throughout the day. Refreshments will be served.
