Arvest in Yellville, Ark. has started preparing for the 16th Annual Charity of the Year Golf Tournament.  Part of the preparation is selecting which charity or charities will be part of this year's event.  Applications from area non-profit ogranizations are now being accepted.  Please see the official release below for additional details.

YELLVILLE, Ark.– A committee of associates at Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas are now accepting applications from area non-profit organizations for the 2012 Charity of the Year (CY) program. Each year Arvest hosts the Arvest Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds in support of charitable organizations in Baxter, Boone and Marion counties that are selected through the CY program. This will be the 16th year of the golf tournament.

The committee will choose up to three charities to be the recipients of all tournament proceeds. All charitable organizations within the three county area are encouraged to apply to become “Charity of the Year.” Final selection is based on past, present and future financial needs, along with other criteria. To qualify, the charity must be a designated IRS 501(c)(3) organization and must submit a letter to the committee explaining why their organization should be selected.

“Arvest Bank and the charity committee take great pride in our Charity of the Year program,” said Tiffany Watkins, marketing director for Arvest. “In 2011, we raised $7,200 which benefited three local non-profit organizations serving women and children. The organizations, Gamma House, Grandma’s House and Marion County Rotary Club’s Our Kids program each received $2,400.”

Watkins added, “The support we receive from the community for the Arvest Charity Golf Tournament makes it possible for us to give to these wonderful organizations that provide assistance to our neighbors and friends in our region.  We hope to raise even more money this year for local aid.”

Applications for the 2012 Charity of the Year are due no later than Friday, April 13, 2012. All applications should be mailed to: Arvest Bank Charity Committee, Attn: Tiffany Watkins, P.O. Box 325, Yellville, AR, 72687, or they can be emailed to
