As a running tradition for 28 years, Arvest Bank hosted the annual Shawnee Academic Letter Jacket Program, an honor reception for Shawnee High School Seniors who have been in the top five percent of their senior class.  This year, 15 letter jackets were awarded to students who have high expectations for themselves and have proved it in the years at Shawnee High.

Chris M. Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arvest Bank in Shawnee, Okla., said “Arvest is proud to continue to honor these students by sponsoring the academic letter jackets.   In the past, comments about where previous letter jacket recipients are today made us  realize what an esteemed group of kids these are as they have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, engineers and other professionals.”

The nearly three decade relationship between Arvest Bank and Shawnee High School with this event has formed a special bond between the two, as well as with the community as a whole.  It reassures students that they have support from people other than family and teachers, exemplifying and bringing in to light the importance of academia and doing well in school.  “It takes three groups to achieve this award: the parents and family who support, encourage and help their child to excel throughout their school years; the teachers and administration for the direction and guidance through each year; and of course the student with the tenacity necessary to stay committed to achieve this honor,” Clark said.

Best of luck to the Shawnee Senior High School Students on their future endeavors.
